Rosewood & Horn Wa Handles
Give your Japanese kitchen knife a distinctive finish with a richly figured rosewood handle and a naturally patterned horn ferrule. Warm amber, copper and reddish-brown tones run through this selection, with intricate swirls, rippling grain and dark eye-like markings that make each piece individual. The horn ranges from pale cream to boldly striped brown and charcoal.
Choose your exact handle. Every numbered option corresponds to its own photograph. You will receive the individual piece shown for your selection. There is one of each handle available, with ten unique handles in total. €59 per handle in either length.

Choosing between 128 mm and 116 mm
- 128 mm — Nos. 1–5: the longer option, with 12 mm more overall handle length than the 116 mm handles. Compare it with your existing handle and preferred grip, and check fit and balance.
- 116 mm — Nos. 6–10: the shorter option, worth considering when you prefer a more compact handle. Compare its proportions with your knife and grip, and check the tang fit before choosing.
Handle length alone does not confirm compatibility. A knife's concealed tang must suit the opening and internal insertion depth. Tang length, height and thickness, the handle's external dimensions, blade weight, hand size and preferred balance all matter. Handle weight, opening dimensions and internal depth have not been specified for this batch, so compatibility with a particular knife model cannot be guaranteed from these photographs.
These are replacement handles for wa-style construction, where the tang fits inside the handle. They are not direct replacements for Western handles made from two riveted scales. Contact Tokushu Knife Malta with your knife's brand, model and blade length for help choosing. If the tang is already exposed, include its measurements and a clear photograph.
Fitting
Professional fitting is recommended. The handle opening may need careful adjustment and an appropriate mounting method for the particular blade. Do not force a tang into the handle or assume it is a universal fit. Contact us to discuss fitting for your knife before installation.
Care
- Clean gently by hand and dry promptly, especially around the ferrule and blade junction once fitted.
- Do not soak or put the handle in a dishwasher.
- Avoid prolonged heat, harsh cleaning chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
- Check that any oil or conditioner is compatible with the existing finish before applying it.
- Store in a dry place and avoid leaving the handle standing in water.
