Snakewood Handle

Give your Japanese knife a distinctive new look with the Snakewood Handle. Snakewood is a dense hardwood admired for its rich reddish-brown tones and dark, snakeskin-like markings. Natural variations in colour and grain give each handle its own character.

Choose from two handle lengths to suit your knife and preferred grip. Sold as a handle only; blade not included.

Which blades can it suit?

These are general size recommendations, not a guarantee of fit for a particular knife.

• Small — 124 mm: a useful starting point for compact wa-handled knives, such as 165–180 mm santoku, bunka and nakiri, as well as some smaller gyuto. For petty knives, check the proportions carefully because smaller blades may need a shorter, slimmer handle.
• Large — 140 mm: a useful starting point for longer wa-handled knives, such as a 240 mm gyuto or a 270 mm sujihiki or yanagiba. Blade weight and your preferred balance also matter.

Check before ordering: the blade's hidden tang must suit the handle opening and insertion depth. Blade length alone does not confirm compatibility. These handles are intended for wa-style, hidden-tang blades, not as a direct replacement for Western-style riveted handle scales. Professional fitting is recommended. Care

Clean gently by hand and dry promptly. Do not soak or put in a dishwasher. Keep away from excessive heat and sudden temperature changes.
