Ebony & Horn Wa Handles
Give your Japanese kitchen knife an individual finish with an ebony wood handle and contrasting horn ferrule. Dark ebony grain, warm brown streaks and naturally varied horn make every handle in this selection different. The faceted octagonal wa profile offers a traditional look and a comfortable reference for your grip.
Choose your exact handle. Each numbered variant corresponds to its own photograph, and you will receive the piece shown for that selection. There is one of each handle available: eight individual handles in total. €59 per handle.

Which blades can these handles suit?
These handles are intended for Japanese wa-handle construction, where a concealed tang fits inside the handle. The following is a general guide to proportions and comfort, rather than a guarantee of compatibility:
- 124 mm: a useful starting point for many compact 165–180 mm santoku, bunka and nakiri blades.
- 135 mm: a useful starting point for many 210–240 mm gyuto and double-bevel kiritsuke blades. Some slicers may also suit this length after an individual fitting check.
Blade length alone does not confirm fit. The tang's length, height and thickness must be checked against the handle opening and internal depth. Handle proportions, hand size and preferred balance also matter. The opening dimensions and handle weights are not specified for this batch, so a particular knife model cannot be guaranteed to fit from these photographs.
For help choosing, contact Tokushu Knife Malta with your knife's brand, model and blade length. If the tang is already exposed, include its measurements and a clear photograph. These are not direct replacements for riveted Western handle scales.
Fitting and care
Professional fitting is recommended. A replacement wa handle may require careful adjustment of its internal opening and an appropriate mounting method for the particular blade. Do not force the tang into the handle. Contact us to discuss fitting for your particular blade.
- Wash gently by hand and dry promptly, especially around the ferrule and blade junction once installed.
- Do not soak or place in a dishwasher.
- Avoid prolonged heat, harsh cleaning chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
- Check that any oil or conditioner is compatible with the existing finish before application.
